2010 Asian Pacific American Heritage Award for Lifetime Achievement

Mayor Gavin Newsom and the Asian Pacific American Heritage Celebration Committee invite the public to submit nominations for the 2010 Asian Pacific American Heritage Awards. This Awards program is part of the City’s offcial celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month during the month of May.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The purpose of this Award is to honor an individual who has served the community in San Francisco for minimum of 25 years and has achieved distinct results in one of the following areas:
• Promoting APA culture and heritage
• Strengthening unity with APA community
• Making a unique and lasting impact on the APA community

The selection committee will focus on nominee’s contributions to and impact on the APA community in San Francisco; nominee does not have to be a current San Francisco resident.

NOMINATION PERIOD: February 22, 2010-March 26, 2010

NOMINATION DEADLINE: March 26, 2010 5pm PST.

ANNOUNCEMENT AND PRESENTATION OF AWARDS
The finalists will be notified during the first week of April and announced during the San Francisco Asian Pacific American Heritage Month kickoff press conference to be scheduled during the last week of April.

All finalists will be invited to the Awards Ceremony being held on Monday, May 3, 2010 at 5:30pm at Herbst Theatre. The winner in each category will be announced during the event and presented with his or her award.

THE AWARDS
Recipient of the APA Heritage Award for Lifetime Achievement Award will receive the APA Heritage Trophy, a Certificate of Recognition from the City and County of San Francisco, and will be featured on the website www.apasf.org.
